Wolverhampton Art Gallery

Situated in the heart of Wolverhampton City Centre, Wolverhampton Art Gallery aims to provide a friendly, accessible and inclusive environment for visitors to explore art, at their leisure.

All exhibitions are carefully programmed using a range of Wolverhampton Arts and Museums Service's extensive fine art collection, to provide something suitable for every visitor.

The gallery has become internationally renowned for it's pioneering approaches to providing accessible artworks for visitors with visual impairments, resulting in the creation of the first national interactive tactile sculpture gallery, Sensing Sculpture.

Other innovative interpretation work can be seen in the Georgian gallery where an exquisite collection of Georgian paintings is displayed against a period background. Specially commissioned, Georgian style furniture encourages visitors to actively explore the past by delving into pull-out drawers and secret compartments.

The Gallery has recently had a £6.4 million extension built, which has created two new triangular galleries at the rear of the main Victorian building. The new spaces are being used to house Wolverhampton's extensive Pop Art Collection, which is the largest outside of London and to provide additional space for special exhibitions of both contemporary and traditional art.
